President Bola Tinubu emphasized the importance of a progressive and inclusive democracy during a meeting with the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos.
He expressed his support for the establishment of the National Institute of Progressive Studies by the party, which aims to educate party members on the principles of democracy and good governance.
President Tinubu highlighted the need for collaboration with different government bodies to promote these ideals and address poverty through job opportunities for youths and quality education for Nigerian children.
He expressed his commitment to a strong and ideologically-driven democracy that focuses on the betterment of the country.
In order to complete the e-registration and digital membership validation exercise by the first quarter of 2024, the President has urged the party’s leadership to focus on targeting more youths and women. He expressed his unwavering support for the progressive ideology of the party and emphasized the need to pursue it vigorously.
President Tinubu also expressed his gratitude to party members for their overwhelming support during the campaigns and the electoral victory, as well as the affirmation of his presidency by the Supreme Court.
Despite his desire for a gathering, he acknowledged that the demands of his office required increased focus, dedication, and time.
President Tinubu highlighted the issue of out-of-school children in the country and stressed the importance of addressing it by establishing more schools, recruiting teachers, and providing at least one meal a day for the school children, aligning with the progressive ideology of the party.
The National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, assured the President that the NWC is working on plans to ensure the party’s success in the upcoming bye-elections in February 2024, aiming to secure all available seats for the electoral contest.
