Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has expressed his alignment with the Federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the health sector, aiming to enhance access to quality healthcare in the state.
During a visit from the Special Adviser to the President on Health, Dr Salma Ibrahim, Otti emphasized the shared objectives between Abia and the Federal Government, particularly in the field of health.
He highlighted their mutual drive towards a common purpose, despite political differences, stating that they are both driving towards the same goal.

Otti listed several achievements in the health sector, including a substantial budget for healthcare, the restoration of accreditation for the Abia State University Teaching Hospital, the resolution of health workers’ salaries, and efforts to address maternal and child mortality rates.
He also expressed his administration’s willingness to collaborate with the Federal Government to ensure quality healthcare delivery for the people of Abia State.
Dr Salma Ibrahim, in her speech, called for a partnership between Abia and the Federal Government to accelerate health sector transformation initiatives outlined in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
She emphasized the need for sustained efforts in reducing maternal and child mortality rates and assured Abia State of the Federal government’s support in achieving various health policies. Dr Ibrahim also commended Governor Otti for increasing the budgetary allocation for healthcare.
