Osun resident murders his centenarian mother due to profits from palm oil

The Osun State Police Command has apprehended Lukman Adejoju, a 63-year-old man, for the alleged murder of his 100-year-old mother, Aminat, as reported by Obasanjonews.com.

Adejoju, who resides in Kajola village, Apomu in Isokan local government area of the state, is said to have committed the heinous act over a dispute regarding palm oil sales.

According to the spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, the tragic incident unfolded while the suspect and his mother were on their way to the farm, leading to a confrontation between them.

Opalola further revealed that Adejoju confessed to pushing his elderly mother, causing her to fall and subsequently pass away.

The suspect has since been transferred to the command’s headquarters in Osogbo, the state capital, for further interrogation and investigation.

Opalola mentioned that Adejoju claimed he was unable to comprehend the inexplicable force that drove him to commit such a dreadful act, shedding light on the disturbing circumstances surrounding the case.

The distressing event not only resulted in the loss of life but also sparked tension within the community, prompting the intervention of law enforcement agencies such as the police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Kehinde Adeleke, the spokesperson for the NSCDC, confirmed that the suspect was apprehended and taken to a police station in Apomu, emphasizing that peace has been restored in the village following the tragic incident.
