Osun: PDP responds sharply to group that threatens to take Adeleke to anti-graft authorities

With regard to the group The Osun Masterminds’ (TOM) threat to take Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke before anti-graft agencies over the recently disclosed multi-billion naira infrastructural development plan, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has called the organisation’s bluff.

Five flyovers were to be built, roads were to be renovated, drinkable water would be supplied, public elementary and secondary schools would be renovated, and health facilities would be renovated.

In addition, during a press conference, Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, Executive Director of TOM, threatened to report State Governor Ademola Adeleke to the anti-graft agencies by Monday at the latest about the infrastructure development plan.

The state might revert back to the days of excessive borrowing and financial recklessness, according to Oyedokun, who insisted that TOM is dedicated to its mission of promoting moral politics, good governance, and responsible citizenship.

The PDP’s chairman, Sunday Bisi, described TOM as a mercenary group and an ally of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in a statement. Bisi also said that the group was deaf and dumb to the ongoing due process compliance on the infra plan.

The Mastermind worked hard to keep the APC in power, but the people who overwhelmingly supported the PDP and its candidate, Governor Ademola Adeleke, rejected the group and its sponsors, calling them outright and disgraceful. “Ever since then, the hired group has been acting as an unrepentant agent of rejected and defeated politicians,” the statement reads.

The public will remember that the state government previously declared that a procurement procedure was in progress, that bid advertising have been issued, and that the State Assembly has already begun work on a supplemental budget. The governor’s declaration that all due procedure and procurement rules are being followed is being misinterpreted by a group of jaded activists.

“Even with a purported professor leading the team, the committee remains silent on the governor’s explicit declaration that savings, cost-cutting initiatives, and expanding the state’s income base will provide the funds for the infra plan. In order to finance the infrastructure plan without taking out a loan from a financial institution, the governor stated unequivocally that a project account had been formed.

“However, we fail to see how the possibility of an anti-graft investigation should be justified in order to save money on pointless expenses as they once were? Even worse, the group’s ultimatum to the state government to release an infrastructure plan, complete with financing strategies, project justifications, and agenda sustainability justifications, is incredibly naive. At what point will the alleged masterminds concede their masters’ defeat, having lost four straight elections?

“A transparent and due process-oriented government is being led by the PDP. We won’t be sidetracked by political operatives disguising themselves as representatives of civil society.
