Christmas, according to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, gives Nigerians hope, joy, God’s grace, and comfort.

Following his speech at the Aso Villa Chapel’s Christmas Service on Sunday, Osinbajo spoke with reporters from the State House.

He views the celebration as good news since Jesus Christ makes himself available to atone for human sin.

“My message is the Christmas message, which is the birth of the new covenant, the birth of grace, and the celebration of God’s mercy and grace today because Jesus Christ’s birth marks the beginning of God’s grace.

“God promised that as soon as Christ was born, he would not hold us accountable for our sins as long as we trusted in what he accomplished—the death of Jesus Christ, who came to atone for all of them.”

“So, ultimately, the reason we rejoice is that this is wonderful news; previously, we had to pay for our sins; the price of sin is something we must bear.”

This is because, as long as we believe in Jesus, he will always be able to take away all of our sin and replace it with his righteousness.

The wonderful news, he said, is a celebration of delight and a huge sense of relief.

According to Pastor Seyi Malomo, chaplain of Aso Villa Chapel, Jesus Christ is the one who brings about the new covenant, also known as the Emmanuel covenant or the covenant of God with us.

He said that whoever possesses God has nothing to lack.

“What matters most is that when God is on your side, things will undoubtedly get better.”

And when we enter the New Year with God on our side, regardless of how gloomy the predictions of others may be, we are confident that God, who goes before us, will straighten the crooked area.

“He will smooth out the jagged edges; he will lower the valleys and level the mountains, and he will grant us victory.”

In the name of Jesus, he said, “Peace be with us.” (NAN)
