The unanimously Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidates for the general election of 2023 said that they have unanimously decided to give up on their hopes of winning the presidency in 2027 in order to support President Bola Tinubu’s attempt for a second term.
The 2023 APC Presidential Aspirants, which will be launched on Monday, December 18, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, are a group of presidential contenders that include Rotimi Amaechi and former vice president Yemi Osinbajo.
The forum made this announcement on Sunday through a statement that was signed by Senator Ahmed Yerima, the convener/acting chairman, and Nicholas Felix, the youngest APC presidential candidate in the 2023 elections.
“All members who previously had presidential aspirations have agreed to drop such even ahead of 2027 because we are committed to President Tinubu and his administration’s success. This will clear the way for President Tinubu to pursue a second term. We will not stop working on this project, which we are currently working on, according to the statement released in Abuja.
In addition to announcing that Monday’s forum inauguration will serve as the organization’s annual dinner, the APC presidential contenders stated that their primary goal is to back President Tinubu and the APC administration in the best interests of the nation.
As a people and a nation, we face a plethora of socioeconomic issues nowadays, and we think that the only way we can overcome them is by uniting to confront these issues head-on, regardless of our differences in politics, religion, or ethnicity.
In order to mobilise support for our President, H.E. Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, and his Renewed Hope Administration, which is acting as an advisory body to help him succeed and transform this great country, all of the candidates in the 2023 APC Presidential primary have decided to unite under one roof, according to the forum.
The group unveiled some of its plans, saying, “Basically, the goal of the forum is to make sure that we come together solidly to support President Tinubu’s administration having given up all of our own interests and collapsed same to assist President Tinubu’s emergence.
We have determined that, as important stakeholders, it is not sufficient to remain in the background and advocate on behalf of the government’s policies and initiatives.
Periodically, this forum will act as a middleman to make sure that all government policies and initiatives are effectively communicated to the populace, particularly at the grassroots level.
The forum of APC presidential candidates for 2023 committed to keep completely on course by maintaining continual communication with the president “as a way of feedback mechanism and at the same time, render possible advice where necessary.”
In order to make sure that Nigerians living abroad are properly educated and organised to greet the President with enthusiasm, this forum will make use of both our individual and group’s worldwide connections. In this sense, we will always go ahead and make the necessary preparations,” it continued.
Invoking his extensive background and experience, the forum urged Nigerians to have patience with the Tinubu administration, stating that the president “is working very hard to turn the fortunes of the country around”.
“For a harmonious working relationship in the interest of the development of the country as we believe that electioneering periods are over and it is time for all hands to be on deck,” it further pledged to mobilise presidential candidates of all other political parties in the February 25, 2023 presidential contest.
