Osimhen and Oshoala receive nominations for Globe Soccer awards

Both Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala, both from Nigeria, have received nominations for the 2023 Globe Soccer Awards.

In the 2022 edition, Osimhen took home the Emerging Player of the Year award.

The 24-year-old was crucial to Napoli’s victory in the Serie A championship game the previous year.

For the coveted prize, the striker will compete against Robert Lewandowski, Nicolò Barella, Jude Bellingham, Karim Benzema, Yassine Bounou, Antoine Griezmann, Ilkay Gundogan, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Other nominees include Kim Min-Jae, Luka Modric, Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Kane, Vinícius Jr., Lionel Messi, Lautaro Martínez, and Kylian Mbappé.

For the first time, Oshoala is also a nominee for the Women’s Best Player title.

The standout striker for the Super Falcons was a member of the Barcelona Femeni team that took home the UEFA Women’s Champions League title the previous year.

Online voting will be used to choose the winner.

On January 19, 2024, a gala ceremony will be held to reveal the winners in each of the several categories.
