Samuel Ortom, the former Governor of Benue State, announced that the G5 group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will endorse President Bola Tinubu for re-election in 2027. Ortom made this statement during a luncheon hosted by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), in Port Harcourt. Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, was accompanied by Ortom and another G5 member, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi from Enugu.
The G5, which consists of five former PDP governors, had previously rejected Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election and instead supported Tinubu, a southern candidate.
The G5 members include Ortom, Wike, Ugwuanyi, Okezie Ikpeazu from Abia, and Seyi Makinde from Oyo. Ortom expressed no regrets for supporting Tinubu’s victory in the last election and stated that the group will once again support him for a second term as Nigeria’s President. According to Ortom, ensuring Tinubu’s success will secure a future where others can contest the election.
Nyesom Wike, our esteemed leader, has officially announced that we will be endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the year 2027.
It is a widely held belief among Nigerians that Tinubu is the right choice for our nation. Even during the previous administration, which led Nigeria through difficult times, we allowed them to govern for a full eight years.
Therefore, it is only fair that a skilled administrator like President Bola Ahmed Tinubu be given the opportunity to lead us for the same duration. Wike reassures the citizens that Tinubu will effectively address the pressing issues of security, economy, and other critical challenges faced by our nation.
