In spite of an alleged political clique that is determined to pull Senator Orji Uzor Kalu down, the North East Elders and Youths Peoples Forum NEEPYF is confident that he will receive justice before the Court of Appeals.

This was said by the group’s chairman, Alhaji Salisu Magaji, during a press conference on Tuesday in Bauchi.

“Our attention was drawn to the allegations made by Senator Elisha Abbo, who represents Adamawa north, that the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, was behind the ruling of the Appeal Court which terminated his tenure in the Senate abruptly yesterday,” the NEEPYF Chairman said.

“Abbo said that the court of Appeal has four additional senators on its list for similar removal.

“Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (APC Abia North) is the next target of the planned ‘coup’ against five senators from the Senate by its leadership. The’sin’ committed by the other four senators was their opposition to the 10th Senate’s leadership taking office in June.

According to Magaji, Nigerians are watching and expect nothing less than justice and fairness from the appeals court, and that if they receive those things, Kalu would prevail just like he did in the lower tribunal.

The heart of democracy, he continued, “lies not only in our capacity to cast a ballot, but also in our capacity to uphold the validity of that ballot, as we continue to be confident that the appellate courts will grant us meaningful justice.”

“The ultimate victory may take some time to come our way, but it is, in our firm belief, inevitable as we have come to understand that the wheels of justice may sometimes grind slowly, but it definitely grinds to a sure end,” the statement reads.

The judiciary must continue to be the average person’s final resort.

“President Bola Tinubu, please take the lead in defending democracy because this is not the democracy for which he battled.

If it is true that certain people are abusing the legal system to further their own agendas, it is terrible because their actions will undermine the democracy we have worked so hard to build.

Magaji urged President Tinubu to take action to ensure the respect for the rule of law because he was one of the people who battled for democracy.

“We are familiar with him As a cornerstone and forerunner of democracy, Tinubu will use all of his influence to make sure that the democracy he fought for under military rule is not the one that is currently in effect since certain politicians are trying to sabotage almost everything in an effort to preserve democracy.

Magaji claimed that because Orji UO Kalu is a detribalized Nigerian, northern organisations were stirring up support for him. They believed he was qualified to provide the country with sound governance.

According to him, Kalu was popular among many Nigerians, particularly northerners, due to his integrity, honesty, and ability to deliver because he had strong ties with everyone and didn’t let any of them down.

Kalu is a straightforward person who always follows through on what he says he will do and won’t do.He claimed that he is always truthful with Nigerians and that they are sincere with him.

The Chairman characterised Kalu as a candidate for the presidency who has worked in the government’s executive, legislative, and private sectors. He claimed it was surprising how the current Senate leadership is making every effort to bury him. We disagree.

“We are fervently pleading with the court of appeal to respect the will of the voters.Don’t take any action that will undermine the electoral wishes of the Abia North Senatorial Zone.We expect an objective and fair decision,” Magaji stated.
