As part of the ongoing Operation Lake Sanity 2, troops from Sector 2 of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have successfully eliminated a terrorist and recovered a number of valuable items.
This operation took place on Litri Island, which is located on the border between Chad and Nigeria in Central Lake Chad.
The troops were able to seize several items during the operation, including an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, an unexploded ordnance device, a mobile phone, and various personal belongings.
In a statement released on Wednesday by Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, the Chief Public Information Officer in N’djamena, Chad, it was emphasized that the neutralization of the terrorist is a significant blow to their capabilities in the area.

Providing further details, on May 11, 2024, troops from the 19 Brigade in Sector 3 of the MNJTF successfully disrupted a logistics movement by Boko Haram terrorists in the Burwarti area of Kukawa LGA, Borno State, Nigeria.
According to the statement, this ambush resulted in the capture of two motorcycles, a Baofeng radio, four bags of millet, and various other miscellaneous items.
Following this operation, on May 12, 2024, troops conducted a clearance operation from Burwarti to Daban Masara, during which they intercepted a civilian vehicle.
The vehicle, driven by Mr. Baba Ado, was found 6km east of Burwarti and was carrying passengers and empty baskets towards Daban Masara.
Mr. Baba Ado, who was on the 19 Brigade’s watch list, was detained for further investigation after a thorough search and interrogation.
Additionally, on May 13, 2024, the Nigerien Gendarmerie in Sector 4 of the MNJTF, located in Diffa, Niger Republic, successfully seized petroleum products that were concealed within sacks of maize cereals.
This operation, conducted approximately 5km from the main road on the outskirts of Diffa town, foiled an attempt to smuggle these products past security checkpoints.
It was revealed that these petroleum products were intended for terrorist groups operating within the Lake Chad Basin.
The statement concluded by highlighting that the collective efforts of the MNJTF have significantly undermined the logistical and operational capabilities of terrorists in the region.
