Onugkha, a Russian-born striker, expresses interest in playing for the Super Eagles, citing his Nigerian roots and connection to the country.
German Onugkha, who was born in Russia, has declared his inclination towards representing Nigeria on the field.
Born in Moscow to a Russian mother and Nigerian father, the star of FC Copenhagen came into existence.
Onugkha declined a call-up to the Russian national team for their friendly matches against Thailand and Vietnam this September, but is now considering representing the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The 28-year-old has shown interest in playing for the Super Eagles and plans to visit the Nigerian embassy in Copenhagen soon to apply for a Nigerian passport.
On Thursday, after playing his first unofficial game for FC Copenhagen in a friendly match against Landskrona BoIS, Onugkha spoke to journalists and expressed that he declined Russia’s call-up as he wants to prioritize focusing on his future at the new club. He further added that staying put in Europe would prove beneficial for him instead.
“In the upcoming month, I will attempt to acquire a Nigerian passport due to my father’s origin. Consequently, I plan on visiting the embassy in Copenhagen for this purpose and assess whether it is feasible.”
