Following today’s building fall in Gwarinpa Estate, Abuja, one death has been verified.
At around 11 a.m., a building near H-Medix on 4th Avenue collapsed, trapping many people inside.
Unknown numbers of workers were killed when the three-story building with a basement collapsed.
The response is being coordinated by the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FCT-FEMA).
More than a dozen have been evacuated, the agency confirmed in a Thursday night update.
Nkechi Isa, the public relations officer, stated that “19 people have so far been rescued, with 1 fatally injured.”
The Federal Medical Center, Wuse, Gwarinpa, and Asokoro district hospitals have all received the victims.
Isa added that some heavy-duty construction companies had participated in the rescue efforts.
