Over the weekend, a new cult conflict in Ogun State’s Afobaje region of Obafemi Owode Local Government region claimed the life of an adult male who has not yet been named.

This is in addition to Kazeem Abiola, who was hospitalised after receiving a bullet wound.

According to reports, the fight started at noon on Friday when a group of armed men who appeared to be fraternity members attacked the scene, shot Abiola in the abdomen, and wounded the victim in the chest and with a machete.

An eyewitness described the altercation as maybe a cult confrontation between the Alora and Eiye fraternities.

“The incident happened in the afternoon,” the insider stated. What I witnessed was a group of males riding motorcycles storming the scene and attacking two people. When we heard the gunfire, everyone was fleeing for their lives and there was panic. We discovered that two people had been shot when the police arrived. One of the wounded was put on a motorbike, but given how badly he was bleeding, I doubt he will survive the incident.

We haven’t had a cult conflict in this area in a while, but I believe the guys have returned with their attitude. Why would anyone engage in cultism, I wonder. Rumour has it that the individuals fighting were members of the Alora and Eiye fraternities.

Omolola Odutola, the public relations officer for Ogun State Police, acknowledged the altercation and stated that one individual had died and the other was presently undergoing treatment at a state hospital.

She went on to say that State Commissioner of Police CP Abiodun Alamutu had issued an order for a manhunt for the suspects who were on the run, but he had assured everyone not to panic and to carry on with their regular lives fearlessly.
