Ondo LG Poll: PDP Pulled Out Over Fear of Losing – Aiyedatiwa
Deputy Governor Aiyedatiwa claims the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) withdrew from the Ondo local government elections due to concerns over a potential loss.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State stated that the Peoples Democratic Party chose to boycott Saturday’s local government election because they were afraid of losing.
Aiyedatiwa believes that the opposition party’s decision stems from cowardice.
The PDP had previously pulled out of the election, citing concerns about a lack of credibility within the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC).
After casting his vote at polling unit 5 in Ward 4, located within the Ilaje Local Council Area of the state, the governor praised ODIEC for ensuring a smooth election process.
“For the PDP to withdraw now would be an act of cowardice. They were involved throughout the entire process, and ODIEC had already published the election timetable.”
I’m not sure why that happened. It could be due to the fear of losing, or perhaps because each election has its own logistics and other political parties have their reasons for participating or withdrawing. I’m not privy to those details.
