Abass Mimiko, the younger sibling of the former Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has been selected as the gubernatorial candidate for the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, in preparation for the upcoming November governorship election in the state.
The announcement of Abass Mimiko as the party’s candidate was made on Wednesday following a unanimous decision by party members during the primary election conducted at the party’s headquarters in Akure, the capital of the state.
In his speech after accepting the nomination, Abass Mimiko, a medical professional, outlined his key areas of focus if elected as the next governor, emphasizing education, healthcare, the economy, and state security.
He expressed confidence in his ability to address food security concerns, promising a surplus of food within a year of his administration. Additionally, he pledged to prioritize affordable quality education, industrialization, housing, and free healthcare services for all residents.
Abass Mimiko also highlighted the support and encouragement he received from his brother, Olusegun Mimiko, stating that he is prepared to continue and build upon his brother’s accomplishments if elected.
Prior to the primary election, the party conducted a state congress where Cornelius Akintoye was elected as the new state chairman of the Zenith Labour Party in Ondo State.
