Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have arrived in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, in preparation for Saturday’s governorship election.
Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti, along with Philip Shaibu, the recent former deputy governor of Edo State, have arrived in Akure for the grand finale of the party’s campaign.
Gboyega Akosile, the media aide to Sanwo-Olu, announced that the APC leaders had arrived for the mega rally.
In a post on X, Akosile announced: “Flash: Governors Jide Sanwo-Olu from Lagos State, his Ogun State counterpart Dapo Abiodun, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, former Deputy Governor of Edo State Phillip Shuaibu as well as members and leaders of the APC’s Governance Advisory Council in Lagos are gathering in Akure for a major rally supporting both the party and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa ahead of Saturday’s Governorship election.”

Aiyedatiwa became governor in 2023 after the passing of his predecessor, Rotimi Akeredolu.
Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has issued a warning against malpractice in Saturday’s governorship election.
Atiku cautioned that the PDP would resolutely oppose any form of electoral malpractice during Saturday’s election.
