After a 29-year-old nursing mother named Tawa and her five-month-old infant died, residents of Owo, the administrative centre of the Owo Local Government Area in Ondo State, were left in a state of uncertainty.
The generator, which was just over a week old, was thought to be the culprit of the disaster.
The dead nursing mother’s spouse was hospitalised in serious condition at the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Owo.
According to reports, the couple started the generator before retiring to bed.
The deceased’s older sister, who had anticipated seeing her there the next day, became concerned when she failed to report to work with her husband.
According to an FMC source, “Tawa contacted her elder sister on Thursday night to tell that her newborn was unwell, and the sister told her to bring the kid.
“The deceased’s sister was informed that when she came at FMC at approximately 1 o’clock, neither Tawa nor the husband were at work.

“With a couple of the deceased’s employees, the older sister travelled to their home out of worry.
They had to force access since the door was locked when they arrived and were frightened by what they found.
The couple was laying comatose on the bed when the door was pushed open, and the infant had already passed out.
After being transported to FMC, Tawa was put on a ventilator in an effort to revive the pair. But, she subsequently died tragically, and doctors were still working to rescue her husband.
