A 20-year-old apprentice who allegedly killed his master and placed the body in a well has been arrested by the police in Ondo State.
The incident happened in Imafon, a town in the state’s Akure South Local Government Area.
The suspect, Josiah Godwin, worked as an apprentice in the local POP asbestos industries for the deceased, Saviour Joseph.
According to sources, the suspect killed his master during a fight over a phone handset.

It was said that the master started the deadly altercation by destroying the apprentice’s cellphone.
The death of Mr. Joseph, who was 27 years old, was discovered in a well on Sunday at a construction site where the two had gone to work in Imafon, according to a relative of the deceased named Odey Ogbaji, who spoke to journalists in Akure on Thursday.
Prior to leaving for work on Tuesday of last week, he claimed to have been on the phone with the dead. However, when he was unable to reach him the following day, he was concerned.

I assumed he had a flat battery until Saturday, when I received a call from another younger brother of mine, who the dead followed and also informed me that he could not reach him, he said.
When the apprentice was contacted later to inquire about the whereabouts of his master, he reported that his boss had woken him up at night, crushed his phone on the ground, and started beating him before telling him to go to sleep.
He claimed that he made the decision to leave the place the next day. So, after leaving the location, we questioned him about how he would wake up the next morning without seeing his employer. He retorted that he believed his master used the restroom before leaving.
We found no scratches on the phone that he said was broken and lying on the ground.
Additionally, the suspect had turned off his phone and kept quiet about the incident.
According to Mr. Ogbaji, the body was later discovered in the well.
Funmilayo Odunlami, the state’s police spokesperson, verified the occurrence.
“The suspect is currently in our custody, and we have started an inquiry into the matter,” she said.
She added that as soon as the investigations were over, the case would be brought before the court.
