Wale Akinterinwa, an aspirant for the governorship position under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, has stated that he will attend the invitation extended to him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday.
According to Obasanjonews.com, Akinterinwa, who competed against 15 other candidates for the party’s governorship ticket, was summoned by the anti-graft agency in relation to allegations of financial misappropriation.
Earlier reports had suggested that the EFCC was investigating Akinterinwa for his alleged mismanagement of billions of Naira during his tenure as the Commissioner for Finance under the administration of late Rotimi Akeredolu.

It was claimed that he had been invited by the EFCC a few weeks ago to address these allegations, but had been too occupied to respond.
However, in a statement posted on his verified social media account, Akinterinwa expressed his willingness to cooperate with the EFCC and provide further clarification on the issues raised.
He also expressed his confidence in the anti-graft agency’s ability to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that justice is served.
