Bayo Onanuga clarifies that President Tinubu has not assumed the official title of Petroleum Minister, addressing public misconceptions on the matter.

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, stated that President Tinubu has never claimed the title of Minister of Petroleum for himself.

Onanuga stated that the Petroleum Ministry is overseen by two ministers, with President Tinubu providing supervision.

The presidential spokesman revealed this during an appearance on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” show on Sunday.

Onanuga stated, “The President has never referred to himself as the Minister of Petroleum; that’s a label made by the media. According to this President, we actually have two ministers for petroleum—one specifically focused on gas.”

That’s an area that this government identified in the past as having been neglected by Nigeria; while more of a gas-rich country than an oil one, President Tinubu is now focusing on developing the gas sector.

Recently, Obasanjo admitted that during his tenure he overlooked the importance of focusing on gas. Tinubu is addressing this oversight by ensuring a strong emphasis on gas development. The president oversees all his ministers and manages every aspect of governance.
