The governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has vowed to go to war with the kidnappers terrorizing the locals.

This is in light of the government’s assurances of appropriate security for locals and commuters travelling through Ogun State before, during, and after the holiday season.

The popular Lagos-Ibadan highway’s State corridor would be cleared of kidnappers and other armed groups, according to the Ogun State Government, which has promised to increase its assistance for the security forces.

In a previous report, Obasanjonews24 said that gunmen, who frequently wear military garb, had taken control of the Lagos–Ibadan highway and were abducting motorists for ransom.

In the same line, it was also stated that kidnappers had kept several localities in Abeokuta North Local Government under siege while people consider evacuation.

The police and other sister agencies gave assurances during a security meeting called by Abiodun that actions are being taken to curtail the kidnappers’ operations.

On Friday, Gov. Abiodun’s chief press secretary, Kunle Somorin, announced that Lanre Bankole, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, has stated that sufficient manpower and equipment arrangements are in place.

According to Bankole, doing this will aid in dealing with any security issues in any area of the state.

Bankole had declared that additional personnel had been placed on high alert and that “we are battle ready to cope with any breakdown of law and order in any section of the state.”
