As part of the plans for the 2023–2024 legal year of the Court, Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Olukayode Ariwoola will appoint 58 new Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) on Monday, November 27, 2023, in the Supreme Court’s main Courtroom.

Following a long-standing custom, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) will provide a state-of-the-judiciary address during the special court session, summarising the accomplishments of both the Apex Court and the Nigerian judiciary as a whole over the 2022–2023 legal year.

This was announced in a press release that Dr. Akande Festus, the Apex Court’s Director of Press and Information, released on Sunday in Abuja.

He claims that other prominent figures in the justice system will speak at the event about the status of the nation’s justice system.

Among them are the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the Attorney General of the Federation, the Minister of Justice, and the Chairman of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN).

The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) has previously received 114 applications for the position of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, which would be awarded in 2023.

Of the total, one is a scholar and the other 57 are advocates.
