On Tuesday, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, said that the 2024 Appropriations bill would be approved on Saturday, December 30, 2023.
In order to allow the Standing Committees to communicate with Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, and the leaders of other federal government departments and organisations for the purpose of budget defence, Hon. Abbas hinted at the possibility of resuming the two-week break.
Therefore, by 8 p.m. today, December 19, 2023, the Speaker encouraged the chairman and members of the House Committee on Appropriations as well as various Standing Committees to submit the reports of the MDAs’ budget defence.
The Speaker added that additional steps in the process, such as compilation, processing, and harmonisation, will be tied to the budget.
