Omo-Agege loses to Oborovwori Sheriff in the Delta governor’s race

In Delta State’s gubernatorial election on Saturday, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, a candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, easily won.

In order to win victory for its candidate in the elections, the PDP received the most votes cast in 21 local government areas, while the APC did so in 4.

The party prevailed in Aniocha North and South, Ika North East and Ika South, Ndokwa East and Ndokwa West, Ukwuani, Oshimili North and Oshimili South, Isoko North and Isoko South, Ethiope East and Ethiope West, Okpe and Sapele, Warri North and Warri South, Bomadi, Patani, Burutu, and Warri South West.

Udu, Uvwie, Ughelli North, and Ughelli South were won by APC.

Sheriff Oborevwori was pronounced the winner and returned as the elected governor of Delta State by Prof. Georgewill Owunari, the returning officer and vice chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt.

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who received 240,229 votes, was defeated by the newly elected governor, who received a total of 360,234 of the legitimate votes cast.

The election had 710,829 accredited voters, however there were only 671,737 ballots that were actually counted.
