Omah Lay Reveals How Prison Changed His Perspective on Freedom

Stanley Omah Didia, a popular Afrobeats artist who goes by the stage name of Omah Lay, has revealed how his time in prison in Uganda had a beneficial effect on both his life and career.

Omah Lay and Tems were apprehended, taken to court, and imprisoned in Uganda by authorities for violating COVID-19 social distancing regulations after they featured at a concert held on December 12th, 2020 at Speke Resort Kampala. OBASANJONEWS reports this development.

After spending three days in jail, they were finally allowed bail.

During a recent interview with Amazon Music, Omah Lay revealed that his time in jail caused him to reevaluate his views on freedom.

After the experience, he claimed that his fondness for liberty grew and was demonstrated in all of his musical compositions.

“I now value my freedom so much that I fight for it every day because of the three days I spent in that cell. Although I don’t want to credit Uganda solely for locking me up, being detained has definitely changed my perspective on what true freedom means,” stated the artist behind “Soso.”
