Nigerian musician Stanley Omah Didia, better known by his stage name Omah Lay, has responded to admirers who have labelled his sound as “Afro-depression.”

The singer stated he doesn’t care what label his music receives as long as listeners are loving it in a recent interview with The Beat FM in London, United Kingdom.
He went on to say that he would never contest fan opinions.
“I just make my music how I want to make it,” stated Omah Lay. I make every effort to avoid using titles and any other labels that the outside world tries to place on you. Because, as my guy used to say, “you can see clearly when the smoke clears.”
“Therefore, when you relate to those items [titles and tags], it simply I simply create music, and as long as you like it, I don’t care who tags it or how you hear it. As long as you appreciate the music, I don’t mind if you think it’s Afro-depression. To it, some other people would dance.
It is artistic. I create it, then I simply step back and let everyone enjoy the planet as they see fit. I would never quarrel with the fans’ opinions because they are their own. That’s how they like it, if that’s how they feel about it.
