The Nigerian men’s 4x400m relay team has been disqualified from the Olympic final, ending their medal hopes.

The Nigerian men’s 4x400m relay team has suffered a disappointing setback as they were disqualified from the final at the Paris Olympics in 2024, extinguishing their medal aspirations.

The disqualification occurred due to a violation committed in the semi-final race, where the athletes were penalized for crossing over onto the line and subsequently bringing their competition journey to an end.

Having clocked a Season’s Best of 2:59.81 to finish second in their heat, Emmanuel Ojeli, Ezekiel Nathaniel, Dubem Amene, and Chidi Okezie secured a spot in the final as a team.

Another incident that sparked controversy involved Nigerian cyclist Eze Ukpesereye, who disclosed borrowing a bike from the German team to participate in the Olympics.

The news triggered anger among Nigerians, as numerous individuals denounced the authorities for their apparent dearth of readiness.

In response to the criticism, Senator John – Minister of Sports Development – issued a statement on X, clarifying that there was a misunderstanding regarding Eze’s situation.
