Oluwadarasimi Omoseyi, Nollywood actress, is granted N5 million in bail

On Wednesday, a Federal High Court in Lagos State granted N5 million bail to Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, a Nollywood actress accused of tampering with and spraying the newly designed Naira notes.

Omoseyin was charged with two counts by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and appeared in court before Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke on Monday.

The accusation bothered those who stepped on and sprayed the newly created naira notes.

The defendant, 31, was accused of tampering with N100,000 brand-new notes by walking on them and spraying them at an incident in the Lekki neighbourhood of Lagos.

But she entered a not guilty plea to the accusation.

Justice Aneke admitted the defendant to bail and one surety in the same amount in his decision on Wednesday.

According to the court, the surety must be employed by the government and possess real estate that is subject to its jurisdiction.

Additionally, the surety must present three years of tax clearance.

The defendant was also instructed to leave her international passport in the custody of the court registrar.

He set a trial date of April 3 for the case.

The defendant was accused of committing the crime on January 28 at the monarch event centre in Lekki, per the charge.

The defendant, according to the prosecutor, Mr. S.I. Sulaiman, was dancing at a gathering when he allegedly sprayed and trampled on newly designed naira notes.

The Central Bank Act of 2007’s section 21(1) is violated by the offence.

According to The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the defendant was detained after a video showed her treading on and spraying new currency at a party went viral.
