Former federal legislator Senator Shehu Sani claims that certain politicians in Kaduna State are buying votes with the outdated naira notes.
The former Kaduna State gubernatorial candidate claimed in a tweet on Saturday night that voters were being paid between N1000 and N2000 to support a certain party.

“The old Naira notes that the Supreme Court declared to be lawful cash became the vehicle for purchasing votes in Kaduna State,” he wrote.
Individuals were paid between $1,000 and $2,000 for their votes in the metro area and surrounding areas, particularly impoverished women.
Nasir El-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna State, was one of the APC-backed governors that brought the federal government to the Supreme Court to seek the return of the old notes.
