Until after the election, Okupe will continue to serve as the director general of the Labour Party’s presidential campaign council.
According to the Presidential Campaign Council for Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s nominee for president, any criticism of Doyin Okupe, the campaign council’s director general, becomes criticism of the party’s nominee.
Doyin Okupe and 10 other party members were fired on Thursday, according to Obasanjonews24, for claimed non-financial membership status, haughtiness, and financial irresponsibility.
Dr. Yunusa Tanko, a spokeswoman for the Presidential Campaign Council, responded to Doyin Okupe’s dismissal in Kaduna on Saturday by urging party members to ignore attempts by certain sponsored elements to generate a crisis inside the party and noting that
Mr. Okupe continues to serve as the director-general of the Peter Obi Campaign as far as the party and presidential council are concerned.
In addition, Dr. Tanko stated that the assault and alleged dismissal of Okupe from the party was a direct attack on the presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and that those who claimed to have fired the Director-General lacked the authority to do so because they were not the ones who selected him.
“We need the party members to be loyal, remain consistent, and recognize that this is a part of a campaign against us.
They attempted to attack us multiple times; in some areas, they refused to let us use their stadium; and now, they are targeting us within the party, he claimed.
He claims that Peter Obi is their driver and that they are battling to save Nigeria; any attempts to de-market him would fail because God will increase his popularity.
He asserted that those sponsored forces who are attempting to spark a crisis inside the party would fail.
Dr. Tanko urged party supporters in Ogun and throughout Nigeria to overlook the alleged dismissal, claiming that Doyin Okupe will continue to serve as the DG till after the election the following year.
