Governor Okpebholo inspects badly damaged roads in the state and orders contractors to return to construction sites to address the urgent infrastructure issues.
Less than 24 hours after his inauguration, Governor Monday Okpebholo surveyed deteriorating roads in Edo and directed contractors to return to their sites immediately to repair the damaged sections within Benin metropolis.
Okpebholo issued the directive while inspecting Upper Mission Extension Road near Aduwawa Junction and the Ramat Park area in Benin, the state capital.
He criticized the poor condition of the roads in Benin and its surrounding areas. He assured residents that work would begin immediately, emphasizing his eagerness to deliver the benefits of democracy to them.
Okpebholo remarked that the residents of Edo deserved well-maintained and drivable roads.
He stated, “During the governorship campaigns, I promised to hit the ground running. Today, I’ve directed contractors to return to their sites because we have no time to waste.”
We assured our people that we would repair and build the roads. With only one dry season each year, now is the time to promptly get to work on-site and address the road issues.
“Edo residents can look forward to positive developments. We will repair our roads and ensure that everyone benefits from the rewards of democracy.”
Immediate commencement of work is planned for several areas, including the 7.5 km Temboga Road; Lucky Way Junction Road near Aduwawa; and the Ramat Park to Ikpoba Slope Axis Road.
Contractors will be immediately mobilized to sites at Eyaen Road and Obadan Junction along the Benin–Auchi Expressway in other areas of Benin.
