Delta State’s former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa appears in public for the first time after his recent arrest by the EFCC, addressing ongoing inquiries.
Former governor Ifeanyi Okowa made his initial public appearance by attending a service of songs alongside Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, in honor of Mrs. Victoria Ossai Obielum, the mother of esteemed politician Godwill Obielum.
Okowa was taken into custody on Monday, November 4, 2024, due to an alleged N1.3 trillion fraud but was released on Friday after his passport had been confiscated.
The event, which saw a large turnout, was attended by Solomon Arenyenka, the Delta State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party; members of the party’s state executive committee; political dignitaries; and top serving and retired security officers, among others.
The songs service was held on Wednesday at Obielum’s residence in Asaba, the capital of Delta State.

Pastor Ifeanyi Ogude from Heaven Bound Christian International Church Ministry delivered a sermon at the event, emphasizing the importance of life. He encouraged Christians to devote themselves to serving both God and humanity.
He expressed that since no one can predict the arrival of death, it is important for individuals to prepare by leading a good life and leaving behind valuable legacies. People will be remembered for their actions.
Mrs. Obielum passed away at 87 on Thursday, June 20, 2024. Her burial will take place on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at her residence in Ushie within the Ndokwa East Local Government Area of the state.
