A 36-year-old commercial motorcycle operator known as “okada” in the community was given a 20-year prison term for raping a 13-year-old girl by the Akwa Ibom State High Court in Uyo.
According to reports, the defendant, Anietie Bassey Etim, a native of Ikot Itie Udung in the Nsit Atai Local Government Area, rode his motorcycle with the victim to a church on a remote road, where he repeatedly defiled her.
In his ruling, Justice Gabriel Ette found the rapist guilty and sentenced him to 20 years in jail.
“You have been found guilty of rape and will serve the next 20 years in prison.” Justice Ette made the decision.
