In order to advocate for Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, to be released from prison, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has made plans to meet with President Bola Tinubu.

The Southeast Chapter of the Supreme Council of Nigerian Traditional Rulers, led by HRM Eze Iheanyichukwu Nwokenna of Abia State, was visited by Ohanaeze President Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu on Saturday during a courtesy visit at his Glass House Orji-Owerri office complex.

According to him, the focus of the upcoming visit to the president would be on all the concerns of the residents of the South East geopolitical zone.

According to Iwuanyanwu, the need to press for the secessionist’s release from the Department of State Services’ (DSS) custody arose as a result of the deteriorating security situation in the area.

He claims that some people are utilising Kanu’s reputation and his imprisonment to commit crimes in the area, claiming that their only motivation is self-interest.

“Your request (from the South East Chapter of the Supreme Council of Nigerian Traditional Rulers) and solidarity visit have rekindled my leadership desire to meet with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to discuss matters pertaining to the Igbo ethnic community, particularly the necessity of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu of IPOB’s release. The Southeast is becoming more unstable as a result of his continued arrest.

“Let’s watch to see if anyone or anything is utilising his name or his detention to cause unrest or a problem in Igboland after he is freed.

“Some individuals and organisations are unlawfully leveraging his notoriety and detention for their own personal gain, in order to create unneeded commotion and issues throughout the Southeast. Igboland must be peaceful and stable.
