Ohanaeze relocates the Igbo Day celebration to secure location out of fear of attack
The 2023 Igbo Day celebration has been relocated by the Ohanaeze Ndigbo sociocultural association to an undisclosed location in Rivers State.
The place was changed owing to a planned attack, according to Ohanaeze’s factional secretary-general, Okechukwu Isiguzoro.
The Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was supposed to host this year’s Igbo Day celebration on September 29.
Isiguzoro claimed that in order to avert a rumoured attack, the event was relocated to an unnamed site.
Isiguzoro said in an interview with OBASANJO NEWS24 on Thursday morning: “The location of this year’s Igbo Day celebration, which was to be held in Liberation Stadium, has been shifted to an unannounced and restricted place in Rivers State.
Following security reports of a planned attack and disruption of the event, the site was changed. Everyone involved has been informed of the most recent development.
