Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s President-General, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, stated that the organization will not obstruct any security agency investigations.
The Department of State Services (DSS) is conducting an investigation into suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele, according to the apex Igbo sociocultural organization Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
On Friday, President Bola Tinubu suspended Emefiele and appointed the Deputy Governor of the Operations Directorate of the apex bank, Folashodun Shonubi, to serve in an acting capacity.
After his suspension, the DSS revealed on Saturday that it had detained Emefiele for “some investigative reasons.”
Following various responses to Emefiele’s arrest, a statement claiming to be from Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide and signed by a man named Chima Uzor surfaced, calling Emefiele’s suspension “ethnic cleansing.”
Uzor and his group, according to a statement released on Sunday by Ohanaeze Ndigbo President-General Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, are unrelated to Ohanaeze.
Iwuanyanwu went on to request that security personnel detain Uzor for allegedly pretending to be the Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
