Ogun tribunal sets judgement date

The judgement in the petition filed by Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenging the election of Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will be delivered on Saturday, September 30, according to the Ogun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

According to OBASANJO NEWS24, the tribunal had reserved judgement on September 4 after the parties had adopted their last written addresses.

The tribunal under Hamidu Kunaza pledged to let the parties know when the judgement would be delivered.

On Thursday, our correspondent discovered that the tribunal had informed the attorneys for the petitioners and respondents that the verdict will be rendered on Saturday.

When reached, Afolabi Orekoya, the media assistant for Adebutu, the first petitioner, confirmed to our correspondent that the verdict would be announced on September 30.

When asked if the PDP lawyer had been informed that the tribunal will issue its decision on Saturday, Afolabi responded, “Yes, it is true.

Invoking violations of the electoral act, Adebutu is asking the tribunal to declare him the victor of the Ogun State governorship election that took place on March 18.
