Ogun State sets the date for local government elections. Learn more about when and where the elections will take place.
The elections are scheduled for Saturday, November 16th, 2024 according to Mr. Babatunde Osibodu who is the Chairman of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC).
In a statement made to reporters in Abeokuta, Osibodu disclosed that the regulations for managing the elections will be unveiled on Thursday, August 8th, 2024. Furthermore, he announced there would be a stakeholders’ gathering on the same day. Political parties are scheduled to commence their campaigns on Friday, August 9th of that year.

According to the statement, “The party primaries are slated for a period ranging from Monday, August 26th through Monday, September 9th in the year 2024.”
Last month, Mr. Kayode Akinmade disputed reports that the elections in Ogun State would take place on October 26, 2024. The previous local government officials’ term ended only a week ago. Today’s announcement follows his denial and confirms a change to the election schedule.
