During the Yuletide season, the Ogun State Police Command has outlawed the use of explosives and fireworks within the state.

In Abeokuta on Monday, State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Omolola Odutola made the news.

According to Odutola, locals have claimed that they are unable to tell the difference between real fireworks and gunfire.

Residents were urged to respect others’ privacy by the PPRO.

Since November 1, the state police command has been deluged with reports of citizens’ reckless use of deadly pyrotechnics, often known as “Banga,” particularly in Sagamu, Ijebu-Ode, Ikenne, and Sango Ota.

They said that the noise is so loud that it endangers people’ mental health and causes worry in the locals, particularly in light of security worries.

“The Ogun State community’s incapacity to distinguish between real fireworks and gunshots has led to the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, imposing an immediate ban on the indiscriminate use of explosive fireworks,” the statement said.
