The Ogun Labour Party requests that Peter Obi’s campaign council be disbanded.

The Labour Party (LP) in Ogun State has called for the party’s presidential campaign council to be immediately dissolved, claiming that party officials from the southern region of Nigeria control the council.

The party also adopted a resolution of disapproval for Julius Abure, the LP’s national chairman.

The State Secretary of the LP, Mr Feyisola Michael, said during a news conference in Abeokuta that the PCC was being “southernized” against the interests of the north.

Since the National Chairman and LP presidential candidate Peter Obi are both from the South, according to Michael, the North East and the North Central regions should have received the director general and general secretary posts now held by Doyin Okupe and Clement Ojukwu, respectively.

According to him, doing so would represent fairness and the constitution’s definition of the federal character.

The Ogun State LP’s lawsuit seeking a court ruling on INEC’s relisting of candidates was also unjustly terminated, according to the state chapter of LP, which also accused Abure of this.

According to him, Abure planned to take up the present Federal High Court case from Bar Mawah Monday, the legal adviser for the state of Ogun.

“Accordingly, we have voted a vote of no confidence in Barr. Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the LP, and Chief Clement Ojukwu, the National Organizing Secretary also serve as the General Secretary of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council rather than the National Secretary.

“We also demand that the National Executive Council meeting be called right now to prevent future political instability since PDP dissidents Clement Ojukwu and Bar Julius Abure have hijacked the party.

For the North East, North Central, National Secretary, and Deputy National Chairman South to be able to openly carry out their constitutional roles, he urged the immediate dissolution of the entire Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council.
