Lateef Olaniran, a secondary school teacher in Ogun State, has been placed under arrest on charges of raping a young woman whose identity has been suppressed.

Olaniran teaches mathematics at Ebenezer Grammar School in Iberekodo, Abeokuta. He is believed to be a resident of the Ipokia Local Government Area in Ogun State.

She claims that Olaniran was taken into custody on Saturday after one of her team members received a call from a young woman who claimed that a male had sexually assaulted her.

The Minister, according to the Commissioner, moved quickly to locate the victim and brought her to a laboratory for several testing before escorting her to the police station to file a case.

“After that, we followed the police to the accused’s house, but he wouldn’t open the gate after multiple knocks. We were able to track down the home owner’s brother, who let us get into the compound,” she said.

“We heard a girl’s cry for help,” Adeleye said, “and with the support of the police, we caught Mr. Olaniran Lateef Adewale, a secondary school mathematics teacher at Ebenezer Grammar School Iberekodo, Abeokuta,” as they entered the suspect’s compound.

The girl who was sobbing in the teacher’s room while he was being arrested, the Commissioner said, also accused him of “forcibly having sexual intercourse with her and threatening to kill her if she does not ask her family to send him money.”

Adeleye verified that the subject has been placed under arrest pending further inquiries at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters.
