Ogun Police Nab Three Suspects Over Motorcycle Theft

Ogun police arrest three individuals for stealing motorcycles, marking a breakthrough in the fight against local vehicle theft. Get the full details here.

The authorities in Ogun State have apprehended three individuals in connection with motorcycle thefts at various locations within the state.

The suspects are Abibu Yusuf, aged 23; Sanni Saidu, aged 30; and Adejumo Micheal.

According to OBASANJONEWS, motorcycle robberies have risen in the state.

The police PRO, Omolola Odutola, confirmed to OBASANJONEWS on Tuesday the arrest of Yusuf and Saidu for their alleged involvement in stealing a motorcycle worth N1 million owned by Daniel Michael. They were also implicated in the theft of another motorcycle belonging to Majek Obasanjo near Fidiwo in the Owode Egba area of the state.

Odutola revealed that two cutlasses were retrieved from the suspects apprehended at the crime scene.

She mentioned that on October 2nd, close to Fidiwo in Owode Egba, Ogun State, a motorcycle owner named Daniel Michael reported being robbed of his TVS motorcycle with the registration number L358. The bike was valued at one million naira.

She stated that he described being attacked by two individuals with a rod, who assaulted him and then stole his motorcycle.

In a similar incident, another resident named Majek Obasanjo reported that his motorcycle and mobile phone were stolen at the same location.

Additionally, a resident named Majek Obasanjo recounted a similar incident occurring at the same location. He tried to resist the robbery; however, the perpetrators succeeded in escaping with his belongings.

She stated that eyewitnesses identified the fleeing suspects as Abibu Yusuf, aged 23, and Sanni Saidu, aged 30; both of northern descent who were apprehended.

Odutola mentioned that the other suspect, Adejumo Micheal, was apprehended on Sunday for stealing a motorcycle from a church premises belonging to Folorunsho Jamiu in the Oke-Itoku area of the state.

She stated, “Around 1:00 PM, Folorunsho Jamiu and Adekanmbi Olaranwaju from the C.C.C parish in Olorunsogo Abeokuta reported that at approximately 12:30 PM on the same day, a red Bajaj motorcycle with registration number LSD 443 QH was stolen. The motorcycle had been parked within the church premises by Mr. Jamiu before being taken by unknown thieves.”

She revealed, “Based on the information provided, a team of officers was directed to the crime scene where they tracked down and found the motorcycle in Adejumo Michael’s possession as he attempted to flee with it.”

The police spokesperson stated that investigations are continuing in preparation for the prosecution of the arrested suspects and assured the public that efforts are being intensified to eliminate such criminals from the state.
