Ogun police apprehend two suspects in the murder and dismemberment of an OAU student

According to the Ogun State Police Command, two accused ritualists, Akeem Usman and Ifadowo Niyi, have been taken into custody for the alleged murder and mutilation of Quadri Salami, an Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) 100-level student.

Salami, 18, was allegedly killed by the suspects, who then dismembered his body and buried the pieces in a shallow grave.

On Thursday, Omolola Odutola, the command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), informed reporters that the suspects had been arrested.

The publicist clarified that on November 14, at the Kemta police station, the deceased’s father had reported his son’s unexpected absence to the authorities.

The father of the deceased had reported to the authorities that his son was last seen on November 8.

But according to the PPRO, one of the suspects, Akeem Usman, was apprehended after a police inquiry revealed that he had been in possession of the deceased’s phone.

According to a police spokeswoman, on Wednesday, Mile 6 in the Ajebo neighbourhood of Abeokuta was the location of a shallow grave where the deceased’s body parts were interred. Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alamut led a tactical squad there.

“He (Akeem Usman) accused Ifadowo Niyi of carrying out the horrific act with him, killing Quadri and mutilating his body parts for ceremonial purposes.

“Ifadowo left with Quadri’s head and both wrists, depositing N100,000—the profits from the sale of the human body parts—into Akeem Usman’s account. Then the remaining pieces were interred,” Odutola stated.
