Public servants in Ogun State have been assured by Governor Dapo Abiodun that his administration will implement measures to avoid delays in promotions.
Abiodun promised to not disregard the state workers’ contributions and urged them to maintain a steady adherence to ethical principles and public service values.
At the Oba’s Complex in Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, during an event celebrating 2024 Public Service Week with a theme titled ‘Building a Socially Responsive Public Service in the 21st Century: The Place of Ethics and Values’, the governor made this statement.
Abiodun emphasized that ethics and values are fundamental principles shaping our actions, serving as the bedrock for establishing trustworthiness and credibility.

We acknowledge that certain individuals are scheduled for promotion in 2023 and 2024. We guarantee you that we’re implementing measures, including collaborating with the Head of Service’s office to prevent any delay in conducting promotion exercises.
He asserted that we must not overlook or treat carelessly the professions of our highly spirited and lively civil servants.
The governor acknowledged his approval of the adoption of resolutions from the National Council of Establishment, which pertain to entry prerequisites and professional advancements.
Several resolutions of the National Council of Establishment, such as those pertaining to entry requirements, career advancement and other public service matters have been graciously sanctioned by me for domestication.
By exclusively providing a 50% subsidy for our public servants, we have taken a significant stride in improving their welfare through the formal sector of our health insurance scheme.
He added that this implies and signifies that employees of Ogun State will only be charged N500 per month, as opposed to the N1,000 paid by other recipients under the same program.
He asserted that over the past five years, his administration had unfailingly shown its dedication to enhancing expertise and fostering human resource development within the state’s public sector. Additionally, he highlighted substantial investment in sponsoring civil servants for national and international professional conferences as well as seminars.
