The children of Mr. Taiwo Oyekanmi, the deceased Director of Finance and Administration in the Governor’s office, now have the scholarship responsibility, thanks to the approval of Prince Dapo Abiodun, the governor of Ogun State.

In an effort to reduce the impact of the deceased director’s passing on his surviving family, the governor also mandated that the director’s gratuity be paid right away.

Additionally, he gave the Ministry of Housing instructions to build one of the low-cost homes his administration had designed for the late Oyekanmi’s widow and children.

During Oyekanmi’s funeral service on Wednesday, at the Ibara Baptist Church in Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun made these remarks.

According to Platinumpost, Oyekanmi was chased and assassinated by armed robbers a few weeks ago after leaving the state capital of Abeokuta, a commercial bank.

Additionally, I pledged to you when I visited, Mrs. Oyekanmi, that we would support you and not abandon you. You will have the presence of the All-Powerful God. However, we will assist you and your family and stand with you.

“While we are unable to replace Taiwo, we will make every effort to lessen the impact of his leaving.

Since then, I quickly enrolled in some of that support. Thus, this is not a commitment that you must visit us in order for us to fulfil.

“The state will assume full responsibility for your children’s education.” I have directed that your husband’s gratuity be paid right away.

“I have additionally directed the Ministry of Housing to furnish you with one of our reasonably priced residences.

“Although I am aware that you own a home, I felt it would be a good idea to market it to help you feel financially secure in the wake of your husband’s passing,” the governor stated.

In addition, Governor Abiodun urged the deceased’s extended family to provide for the wife and the children he left behind, stressing that every assistance was being provided solely for her.

“I’m going to beg the family members now. I am aware of how our custom operates. Just be patient with this woman. Taiwo is your brother, nephew, and cousin, yes, but he’s also this woman’s spouse; she lost her husband, and the kids lost their father.

“All of the assistance that she is entitled to is intended only for her. Governor Abiodun continued, “I want to thank you for understanding. The Head of Service is under my order to see that he gives the appropriate monitoring to ensure that she gets this support solely.

He restated his pledge that his government would use all available means to apprehend the assassins of the late Oyekanmi.

He said that the announcement of a N50 million reward for anyone with information that could help apprehend those guilty for the atrocity was in keeping with that pledge.

Oyekanmi was characterised by Governor Abiodun as a man of humility, diligence, dedication, and extraordinary hard work. He was also said to be highly dependable and obedient.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Mr. Lanre Oyekanmi stated that they will provide support for their late brother’s wife and children, describing their brother’s passing as a loss to the entire Ifoyintedo community.
