On Tuesday, Ogun State public school students were sent home as teachers countrywide joined a walkout called by the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
The students who attended class on Tuesday went home because their teachers were not there to help them.
A few students claimed that the classrooms were locked when they spoke with DAILY POST in the state capital of Abeokuta.

Ismaila, a student at Macjob Secondary School, told our correspondent in the Onikolobo neighbourhood of Abeokuta, “We were told to go home because teachers have gone on strike.”
Our correspondent’s checks verified that everything remained the same in all of the state’s public schools.
Still, the state saw the opening of private schools.
Additionally, commercial banks and other private businesses disregarded labour union directives by continuing with their regular business operations.
Abeokuta is experiencing a blackout as a result of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) employees closing their Abeokuta office in accordance with an NLC instruction.
At the state hospital in Ijaye, there were also some physicians, nurses, and other medical professionals working.
The degree of compliance is high, according to NLC Chairman in Ogun State Hammed Ademola, who also stated that the state would not end the strike.
All that needs to be done is follow the national body’s instruction. Since everyone is told to stay at home, we don’t expect anyone to report to work.
“After receiving many letters from us, all of the affiliates began urging their members to remain at home. According to the NLC chairman, this specific strike is a stay-at-home action.
