Ogun State witnesses a brutal clash between rival cults, with one man killed and his hand severed in the violent altercation.
Suspected cultists have killed a middle-aged man known as Mosquito through gunshots and machete wounds in Ijagun, located within the Ijebu Ode region of Ogun State.
The individual, recognized as a member of the Aye confraternity, was discovered lying in a pool of their own blood with one hand absent.
On Monday, the Ogun State Police Command released a statement revealing this information.
The Command operatives received a distress call and upon reaching the location, discovered six used cartridges as reported in the statement.

At approximately 11:40 PM on August 11th, 2024, an alarmed individual contacted authorities to report that there was a clash between cult members taking place on Ijagun Road located in the Ogun State town of Ijebu Ode.
After receiving the information, a team of officers were quickly dispatched to the scene by the Divisional Police Officer.
Upon arrival and conducting a meticulous inspection, the Divisional Police Officer uncovered the remains of an unknown individual in their middle years who had sustained injuries from both machete slashes and gunshots.
Furthermore, it was observed that his left hand had been amputated and taken away. It subsequently surfaced that the deceased, who goes by the moniker ‘Mosquito’, belonged to a faction known as Aye confraternity. The site yielded six discharged cartridges upon investigation.
The statement mentioned that the deceased’s body was removed and moved to Ijebu Ode State Hospital, where he was declared dead.
