Since the assembly’s founding on June 20, 2023, 24 motions have been turned into resolutions, and seven bills have been signed into law, according to Oludaisi Elemide (APC, Odeda), the speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly.

At a special plenary held at the Abeokuta assembly complex to mark the facility’s first year of operation, Elemide revealed this.

The speaker went on to say that seven further legislation are pending in different legislative committees.

All of the passed bills, he pointed out, had something to do with the state’s daily operations, including the annual appropriations bill.

Elemide stated that House resolutions provided prompt attention to a number of issues that were of critical public concern and needed the government’s rapid response in order to further the state’s socioeconomic and political growth.

He declared, “Today is a day to celebrate that the sanctity of the legislative arm in the state is being restored to deliver on its core duties and responsibilities, not just an anniversary for partying.”

The speaker expressed gratitude to Governor Dapo Abiodun for his efforts to improve the state’s situation.

He pleaded with his colleagues to keep cooperating for the benefit of the state’s present administration as a whole.

The legislators complimented the governor in their different statements for not interfering with their legislative oversights.

The legislators also praised the speaker’s leadership style, saying it had helped to reposition the assembly to record commendable accomplishments in a short period of time.

Former assembly speakers Muyiwa Oladipo, Titi Sodunke-Gomez, Tunji Egbetokun, and Suraju Adekunbi were present at the special session.
