Six former local government party chairman and other notable leaders have resigned, but two PDP chieftains in Ebonyi State, Boniface Igwe and Emmanuel Uka, have declared that this will not harm the opposition party.
According to Obasanjo news24, Livinus Makwe, a former member of the House of Representatives who represented the federal constituencies of Ohaozara, Onicha, and Ivo, and Senator Obinna Ogba, who served as the Red Chamber’s eight-year representative for Ebonyi Central Zone, also resigned from the party.

Igwe and Uka, ardent backers of the party’s candidate for governor in the most recent general election, Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, responded to the news by declaring that the resignations will not destabilise the party in Ebonyi State.
These statements were made in a joint statement released on Monday by Igwe and Uka. In addition, they denounced Ogba, Makwe, and the six former chairman of local government parties for defecting from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
As these individuals were purportedly working against the party’s interests in the 2023 election, the party was not shocked by their resignations.
“We are dedicated to employing legal tactics to recover the mandate that the Ebonyi voters, who turned out in significant numbers to support AnyiChuks for governor, voluntarily granted to the party.
Therefore, the resignation controversy and the impending defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are just side issues. We as a party are committed to retrieving our mandate because it is our duty to our constituents,” they said.
