A Correctional Officer at the Burra Correctional Centre in Bauchi State has allegedly taken the life of a fellow officer following a trivial disagreement regarding food. This unfortunate event transpired on Tuesday at approximately 2 PM in Burra town, located within the Ningi Local Government Area.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the victim, identified as Aliyu Abubakar Chiroma, and the accused, Kabiru Abubakar, shared a close friendship while working at the correctional facility.
The conflict reportedly escalated when Chiroma attempted to enjoy his lunch, prompting Kabiru to demand a share, which ignited a fierce argument between the two.

Aminu Ahmed, the Public Relations Officer for the correctional centre, confirmed the incident, emphasizing that it took place outside the facility.
He provided additional details, noting that Chiroma was originally from Giade Local Government Area, while Kabiru hails from Dass Local Government Area, with both officers assigned to the Burra Correctional Centre.
Following the incident, Chiroma’s remains have been returned to his family for burial, while Kabiru is currently in police custody as investigations are ongoing.
Efforts to obtain further comments from the Command’s spokesperson were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
